Institute of Engineering & Technology – Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya
Devi Ahilya University, Indore has been a leading University of central India. The University within the framework of its UTD opened a self-financing engineering Institute named Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET). It started its academic journey with glorious dreams on 04 September 1996. It has been popularly known as IET-DAVV.
IET was started with a total intake of 90 students in three branches of Bachelor of Engineering (BE) – Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering having 30 students each. The first batch of these 90 students started their engineering career while studying in the classrooms of the sister UTD- School of Computer Science (SCS) and had got initially financial support from the other UTD- International Institute of Professional Studies (IIPS).
It is an approved Institution by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, Government of Madhya Pradesh and University Grants Commission (UGC). IET is academically autonomous with flexible and modern curriculum in all branches of engineering. It is fully self-financing Institute offering BE programmes in six branches. Recently, AICTE has approved 180 additional seats making total intake of 540 students per year.
IET became PG Institute in 2002 and presently it is conducting ME Programmes with six specializations. In year 2006, MSc program in Applied Mathematics was also started.
PhD programme is also offered in all disciplines of BE/ME Programmes & all relevant areas of interest. Research component of IET is also strong while a number of research scholars from other reputed organizations such as SGSITS, AICTE, RRCAT, NRCS, IIITA, etc. have registered for PhD programme in various departments of IET. All these UG/PG/Doctoral programmes come under Faculty of Engineering of DAVV.
Over the span of time IET-DAVV has established itself as one of the leading engineering institutes of central India. From the time of establishment, IET-DAVV has focused on creating niche in technical field. It has added PG programs in addition to UG programs from the session 2002-03.
At IET-DAVV, we strongly emphasize on two major perspectives- one, we adhere to the schedule strictly and second, we give top-most priority to high quality classroom teaching supplemented with assignments and practical work. We also promote the faculty development as apparent from we have sponsored our faculty members for higher studies.
IET-DAVV, being a UTD has got full autonomy which helps in continuously revising the curricula and keep it update to meet the need of the modern business and industry. Due to this, our students have an edge in attitude and aptitude, as learnt from the feedback we get from industries where our students are contributing.

The Library of IET DAVV started in a small room of the Institute Building (Block-A) in the year 1997, and moved to its present premises in 16 September 2000. Since then, it has grown in size and content to take the present shape. With the developments in computers, microelectronics and communication technologies, the behavioural characteristics of the information seekers have been changing rapidly and the library is trying its best to adapt with the technological advancement. For the last six decades, the library has been the lifeline of the academic activities of the Institute.
The Library is well equipped with modem facilities and resources (print and electronic) in the forms of CDROMs, DVD-ROM, online databases, micro-documents, video cassettes, books, journals, patents, standards, theses, reports.

More than 80% of students have already taken up such training in the previous sessions. Efforts for placement of students after their degree are being made. Many Reputed and large Organizations have selected our Student. It is expected that large number of Companies will visit the institute campus for conducting interviews for the potential candidates from the forth-coming academic session. Few organizations have already interacted for this purpose. Training & Placement cell has started functioning in this direction. Students has also Performed tremendously well in GATE, GRE and in All India examination
Bi-directional flow of knowledge and know-how between Industry and Institute is essential for growth and economy. IET has established a continuous liaison with the industries for mutual exchange of ideas, concepts and technology. Faculty members have made sincere efforts in this direction. Most of the students undertake the live problems of the industry and shall attempt to provide solutions through their final year projects, under the faculty guidance.
