Sir K.P. College of Commerce
“Good leaders follow the rules great leaders change them.” The Establishment of Sir Kikabhai Premchand College of Commerce was a landmark in the growth and development of the Sarvajanik Education Society. This new institution of higher education in commerce, started by the society in 1946, owed its existence to the generous donation of Rs. 1,00225/- by Sir Kikabhai Premchand, then president of the society. In 1945 Sir Kikabhai Premchand, who had been greatly impressed by the educational activities of the society. Made over to it 100 ordinary shares of the Fort Gloster Jute Manufacturing Co.Ltd. And 50 shares of the Hukamchand Jute Mills Ltd. Of the market value of Rs. 1,00225/- on the conditions that the society should start a commerce college within two years i.e. by June 1947, that the amount of the donation should be utilized towards the construction of a building for the commerce college and that a minimum amount of Rs. 3,00,000/- should be collected by the society for starting and maintaining the college.C.K Pithawalla College of Engineering and Technology is a self-financed Institute which started its functioning in December 1998 affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat. C.K Pithawalla College of Engineering And Technology is being managed by the Navyug Vidyabhavan Trust which was founded in February 1965. Within a short span of its operation, the college has provided all the necessary facilities to help the students which includes a well-established library containing a large number of books, reference books, technical and general magazines.
Mr. C.K. Pithawalla has been the driving force for the setting up of this college named after him and is continuously drawing inspiration from him. This institute of learning in particular, like many others, owes a great deal to his vision, understanding and missionary zeal right from its inception to its blossoming.
The prevailing intake capacity in Engineering Colleges in Gujarat State is very much inadequate to cater to these demands. hence, the rejection rate of students seeking admission in the state colleges is very high. As a result of this, the number of students has to seek admission in colleges in the state of Maharashtra, Karnataka and other states.
Looking to the above facts the trustees and especially SHRI C.K.Pithawalla are very keen to establish a technical institute under the aegis of the trust to partly take upon itself the responsibility of providing technical education. (C.K.Pithawalla College of Engineering and Technology is a self-financed Institute which has started functioning from the academic year:1998-99.)
The management has vowed to run the institute with the professional attention to each student to develop their overall personality and thereby making them more compatible with the Industrial standards.
I feel delighted and honored to write about Our Institution. Embarking the journey from darkness to enlightenment since 1946, Our College has crossed great milestones of achievements and success. With the vision and mission to spread education, to aspire and strive for excellence in Commerce Education and to bring out the hidden potentialities of the students by providing ample opportunities for growth and development, Sir K. P. College of Commerce was the first commerce college in Veer Narmad South Gujarat University to be accredited by NAAC and attain B++ grade in 2005.
With generous co-operation of Sarvjanik Education Society and the team of devoted Professors, College has given many prominent Leaders, Chartered Accountants, Lawyers, and Businessmen. Besides, the college is committed and strives hard to meet the challenges of the fast-changing education system and has introduced various techniques of teaching including ICT, Seminars, Workshop etc hand in hand with traditional chalk and talk system. Our Career Guidance Cell not only guides the student’s regarding various opportunities and future avenues but also facilities in their job-placement. Our Saptdhara team encourages our students in various cultural and co-curricular activities and ensures the overall development of our students.
Indeed, in our eco-friendly college with green campus and enriched Library much is done and I wish the college will attain Great Heights in the years to come.
