Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) has been established as an autonomous institution, with active support from the Government of Bihar.
The institute was established with the objective of contributing substantially to the academic and development credentials of Bihar, while fulfilling the primary role of training students to become effective managers.
CIMP offers a two-year full-time, AICTE approved, Post Graduate Diploma in Management.
The institute follows most of the practices, systems and processes of leading management institutes in India.
The first batch of the institute graduated in 2010 with 100% placement record.

Infrastructure

Located in the heart of the city, the campus is entirely Wi-Fi enabled. All classrooms and conference rooms are air-conditioned and are equipped with LCD screens and projectors to stimulate learning and interaction. In addition to the classrooms, the institute has a library, an auditorium, a computer centre, faculty rooms and on-campus hostel facility for students. It also has Badminton Court, Table Tennis and Gym facilities.

Library

Established in 2008, the state-of-the art Library Resource Centre (LRC) at Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) is the heart of CIMP’s teaching, learning and research activities with access to most of the referred databases of the world. The fully-automated library is powered by Virtua and has the facility to access e-resources 24x7 within and outside the campus. The primary mission of the LRC is to actively engage and enhance learning and research by providing a flexible and stimulating study ambience through seamless and Real-Time Access (RTA) to high quality information resources. The LRC aims to develop a comprehensive collection of Knowledge Enhancing Tools (KETs) for the students, faculty and the research community of the institute. The LRC stocks books, print periodicals, newspapers (print & online), government publications, Harvard classic collections, Handbooks and non-book materials, including CDs received with books, Business Management Videos and Audios collections.

Information Technology

Information Technology (IT) is an integral part of any leading management institute, CIMP has been streamlining its entire operations using modern technology. IT and e-enablement at the campus is a vital component of CIMP's focus towards excellence. CIMP's strategy provides visibility of services and assets, control of information and systems and automation of tasks and processes. The IT wing of CIMP is committed to transform from Information Technology to Impeccable Technology.

A well-equipped and state-of-the-art computer lab with latest hardware (multimedia computers, network printers and other leading accessories) and software specifications having uninterrupted Wi-Fi/ LAN connectivity round-the-clock.

High-speed Wi-Fi broadband(100 MBPS) connectivity from NKN( National Knowledge Network),has been installed in addition to a backup RailTel broadband (4MBPS) connectivity.

Secure firewall throughout the entire network.

Real-time implementation of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) system, a technology that incorporates the use of electromagnetic/ electrostatic coupling in the radio frequency portion of the electromagnetic spectrum to uniquely identify all the books – a path-breaking technological asset of its kind in India.

Successful connectivity of the campus with world-class online databases of over 25,000 company reports through CMIE Prowess & Industry Analysis Services (IAS) and EBSCO.

Auditorium

The 300-seater auditorium is the pride of CIMP. The hub of all co-curricular activities, the auditorium has hosted eminent personalities, including the Honorable Vice-President of India, UID chairman Nandan Nilekani, musical maestro Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar and the likes. All seminars, industry interface, cultural programmes and the annual convocation are held in the auditorium.

New Campus

CIMP envisages moving to its new campus very soon. The Government of Bihar has allotted 10 acres of land to CIMP for building a state-of-the-art academic cum residential campus in Mithapur, which is 4 kms away from Patna airport and 1.5 kms away from Patna railway station. The new campus should be operational by 2014.
CIMP proposes to start a post graduate programme in Agri-Business Management in the new campus. The new campus will also have an International Management Education Centre with outreach campuses in other countries, such as Fiji and Mauritius.

Summer Internship Program

As a compulsory part of the curriculum, PGDM students are required to undergo Summer Internship with an organization for a period of 8 weeks. The Internship has many objectives. Students gain real exposure to the corporate world. It is a unique opportunity to gain practical experience, an invaluable insight into working life and a great way of getting a feel for the career opportunities available at organizations. The selection process for summer placements starts after the second term, for the first year students. The period of summer internship is normally from the beginning of April to the mid of June. As a practice, summer interns receive a stipend for the duration of their project. Expenses incurred by the student for the project are borne by the company.

The Pre-Placement Talks

The Pre-Placement Talks or Company Presentations are an opportunity for the Companies to interact with the students, understand their expectations and apprise them of the job requirements and job profiles offered.

Final Placements

This process is conducted during the period from December-February. Companies may visit the campus to conduct a Pre-Placement Talk (PPT) to interact with the students and talk about job profiles and compensation to be offered. This is followed by the scheduling of participating companies for placements by allotting a day and time when they can begin their recruitment process. Companies, depending on their processes conduct group discussions, written exams, interview for the final selection of the candidates.
