The history of the college is like a sacred pilgrimage into the past and embodies in itself a tale of two cities. The college was established at Gujranwala ( now in Pakistan) in 1917 and its foundation stone was laid by Sikh Divine Saint Sant Attar Singh Ji.
Since its inception GGNIMT has a tradition of academic excellence with GGNIMT'ians securing university positions in every semester. GGNIMT also encourages its students to participate in extra-curricular activities organised by university & other institutions. This arrangement has made it possible to GGNIMT'ians to win accolades at various levels.
The Institute not only cultivates vision and encourages growth but also inculcates human values and concern for environment & society. The initiatives undertaken are blood donation camps, celebrating Diwali with mentally challenged students at Ek Prayaas, with orphans, at Bal Bhawan organised by Indian Red Cross Society, organised AIDS awareness camp in association with Apollo Hospital Ludhiana. To provide exposure to real world, the institute very often organises Seminar & Workshops for students.
Every year industrial visits are organised to enable students to have direct & closer view of Industry & get a feel of business scenario. Placements are facilitated through combined effort of student, faculty and professionals. A no. of companies from various sectors includes Financial Services, Information technology & Management and Marketing visit GGNIMT during the year to interview students for possible employment. GGNIMTians are employed with TCS, Hew Exports, ICICI Prudential, HDFC, Standard Chartered, Kotak Bank, Quark, Arya College, Ralson Industries etc.
GGNIMT has awarded many scholarships and awards to promote excellence amongst the students. Management has granted fee waivers worth Rs. 10 Lakh for needy students.

Separate common room has been provided for boys and girls and they are equipped with facilties for indoor games and to relax during breaks. Common rooms are also a meeting place & a venue for discussion amongst students about the academics & other areas of interest.
21st Century belongs to "Era of Web Technology" as internet plays backbone for every aspect of life. Understanding the need & importance of internet in field of education, a separate lab is provided to students with High Speed Internet connection of 4 Mbps. The students can browse the web and enhance their knowledge as well as extract unlimited e-information. In addition to this, GGNIMT campus provides Wireless Connectivity (WiFi) using which students can access online information anywhere in and around the campus using their Laptops.
A special internet lab is provided to the students where they can browse internet and search on the topic regarding their course, assignments etc. It comprises of 31 PC's and has round the clock system of assigning to them. It has dedicated 4Mbps internet connection. The Lab is used for providing the training regarding website development, research work & other issues like applets, Java server etc.
Here in GGNIMT, we believe that logic development and programming experience is essential for overall development of BCA / MCA students, whose primary aim is to develop/maintain software catering to the various needs of the industry. A dedicated lab for implementing programming work is provided to the students. The student develop various programs using programming languages like C, C++, Java, Dot.Net, Linux. An individual attention is provided to each and every student by faculty staff of GGNIMT.
A Dedicated Lab for development of projects is provided to the students. The students develop projects using latest problem statements for handling database, user interface & web designing technologies. Every student is provided individual system on which he/she can complete their project. A dedicate labstaff & faculty members are available to guide the students for developing projects.
This lab helps the students to understand the various digital hardware circuits such as adders, subtractors, MUX, DMUX, Flipflops, Registers and Counters. It is also equipped with microprocessors such as 8085, 8086, 8257 etc. Separate hardware kits are provided for training the students and understand the concepts used in DCLD, CSA, MP.
The system configuration is mostly Pentium IV and Dual Core. The hardware peripherals facilities are available in plenty.
E-Library & Journals
GGNIMT Library is computerised and is well stocked. The intake of books is a regular feature in library and no important title of the course of study is missed. In addition to course books, students has an access to books of personality development, encyclopedias, general knowledge, magazines, educational CD's, Biographies, newspapers etc. The library subscribes to National & International subject journals, magazines of current interest.
A Sum of 67,500 was awarded as Scholarship for Meritorious Students on 11/1/2014
The scenario of Education in India has been rapidly changing and throwing up new fields/areas of study on the horizon of education, the latest being the study of Business Management & Information Technology. It was to cater to this latest educational need of the people of this area that GGNIMT was started in 1997.It gives me a sense of satisfaction that after achieving various milestones in this short span, the institute is now entering the 15 th year of its existence.
Our track record over the years has been excellent in all fields, be it academics, co-curricular activities and the placement of our students. All this progress would not have been possible without the motivation, professional guidance and support of the Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council for which we are obliged to them.
