It was a historic moment when Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) was signed with Bureau of Civil Aviation Security(BCAS), Director General of Civil Aviation(DGCA) and Airports Authority of India(AAI) to have a joint venture to form a new autonomous body for augmenting the training activities in the Civil Aviation Sector of the Country and also to impart knowledge to other stake holders. A society was formed as National Institute of Aviation Management and Research(NIAMAR-Society) under the Societies Act 1860 on 22nd July,2010. Under the aegis of NIAMAR Society, Indian Aviation Academy has been established.It aims to develop itself as Centre of Excellence in the area of Education,Training and Research in Aviation in Asia Pacific Region.
Indian Aviation Academy is a premier training institute in the field of Aviation Management. It works towards developing the skills of a large pool of man power of Airports Authority of India, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security and Director General of Civil Aviation through technological advancement and consequent refinement of operating standards and procedures including new standards of safety, security and management techniques. The training imparted caters to the Airport Operations, Airport Engineering- Construction, Maintenance and Project Management, Airport Finance, Human Resource Management, Airport Commercial and Land Management, Aviation Law, Air Cargo Management,Aviation Security and Aviation Safety.
Under the guidance of International Civil Aviation Organisation(ICAO),Montreal,Canada under ICAO TRAIN AIR Programme ,Standardized Training Packages(STPs) on "Bird Hazard Control Management" and "Airport Pavement Maintenance"have been developed.

The Academy has rich infrastructure of international standard with state-of-the-art training aids so far as world class training is concerned. The present building comprises of four training halls and one auditorium equipped with all necessary training aids including audio-video arrangements, a computer lab, the secretarial support and a full-fledged Course Development Unit where the Course Developers are trained under the aegis of ICAO's TRAINAIR programme –a UN Body.
Hostel has 28 air-conditioned rooms for trainees / participants and two air-conditioned suites for visiting faculty. These rooms are equipped with cable television, telephone and refrigerator. The complex also has common mess where food (Indian & Continental) is provided to the participants. The complex has also been provided with recreation facilities like table tennis, carom and a badminton court. A mini gym has been created for the health conscious participants. The Hostel Rooms are available for the trainees at the applicable rates of IAA. The room charges cover the cost of bed tea, breakfast and dinner. The cost of working lunch and tea/coffee with snacks on training days is included in the course fee. Additional catering and laundry service is also available on payment.
