St. Francis College For Women, started in 1959, is a Catholic minority institution founded by the Sisters Of Charity, for holistic education for the empowerment of women. The college is housed in an impressive campus spread over eight acres in the heart of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. From a modest student strength of 15 in 1959, the college has grown into a prestigious institution offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses, with a student force of 2,400. In addition, it has a staff strength of 110 teaching members and 80 non-teaching members.
Autonomy was conferred on the college by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 1988. Since then, the college has proved to be a trendsetter in academic development, with a commitment to a value system and qualitative self-improvement. The college was accredited with 5 stars by the NAAC (National Assessment And Accreditation Council) in the year 1999, and re-accredited at the ‘A’ Level in the year 2006. In 2004, the UGC declared the college a “College With Potential For Excellence”.
The college offers an exciting range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs amply supported by a variety of diploma programs and certificate courses. Currently a choice-based and credit-based system is in place, allowing students access to inter-disciplinary courses as well. Under this system, students can choose from a variety of courses, and register to earn more credits by taking on additional courses.

Our library services are fully computerized with updated software (“SLIM 21″). The library has a collection of over 60,000 books. Access to e-journals from J-Gate-Informatics is also provided. The library also subscribes to more than 100 journals and magazines. It is kept open for 290 days in an academic year, and works between 8:30am and 5pm.
The canteen provides lunch, snacks and beverages, and is a popular hangout for our students. Spacious, well-stocked with good quality food, and with youthful music always playing in the background, the canteen offers the perfect ambience for informal student interaction.
The college has a fitness studio with facilities for students work out under the supervision of a trained instructor. The studio is spacious, with an area of over 1,000 sq.ft., with full-length mirrors, and is fully air-conditioned. It is equipped with the latest fitness equipment, with cardio stations, treadmills, cross-trainers and upright bikes. The gymnasium has a professional nutritionist who, upon request, provides nutritional counseling.
Service Center & Common Room
The Student Service Centre is equipped with facilities for photocopying, binding, lamination and stationary. The common room provides students with a place for relaxation and informal interaction.
The college campus has adequate space for vehicles to be parked. Students and staff can park their vehicles in the bays allotted to them.
The college has a large auditorium which can seat a gathering of 1,000. It is spread over an area of 20,000 sq ft. It has a vast stage, state-of-the-art acoustics, attached green rooms and other accessories – and all of these contribute to the success of all cultural and other events conducted here.
The college has a fully air-conditioned board room for conducting important meetings and seminars. It is fitted with modern audio-visual equipment that facilitates interactive sessions. Over a hundred people can be seated comfortably in this room.
Internet facility is provided free of cost to staff and students. Each staff room is equipped with a desktop for Internet connectivity. A computer lab with 30 computer systems is separately maintained for providing Internet access to students. Broadband access is provided by BSNL.
St. Francis College For Women has a highly active placement cell, which aims to provide an effective and mutually beneficial platform for job seekers and job providers. Organized and run on a professional basis, the placement cell may be considered comparable to foreign university placement cells in terms of the extent and nature of linkages, as well as training of prospective professionals.
The placement cell comprises staff representatives from different departments, student representatives from the second and final years of graduation, voluntary ex-student representatives and supporting administrative staff.
